Test Code LAB7011 Antibody Identification

Includes:

Identification of unexpected antibodies and phenotyping patients for corresponding red cell antigens. This test is ordered by Transfusion Service when an indirect antiglobulin test is positive, if indicated. Elution and Direct antiglobulin test may be performed if indicated.

Notes:

Draw specimens from sites other than where needle(s) for administration of IV fluids are located.

Collection:

Specimen: Blood

Container: Two 7 mL Plain Red Top Tubes AND Two 6 mL Pink Top Tubes.

Volume: 18 mL; Minimum 10 mL

Storage Instructions:

Send specimens to Transfusion Service ASAP.

Turnaround Time (TAT):

Variable, depending on number of antibodies present (hours to days).

Test Availability:

24 hours a day / 7 days a week
