Important Note

Specimens must be hand delivered to the Main Lab, Children's Hospital Room 319.  ART locations should hand deliver specimens to ART OR Lab, Room 4221 for transport to Main Lab.  Specimens sent via pneumatic tube system will be canceled. Specimens not received within four hours of collection will be cancelled.

Specimen: Blood

Container:   Platelet Function Inhibition Kit.  To obtain a kit for Ashley River Tower (ART) locations, call ART OR Lab at 843-876-5656.  To obtain a kit for any other locations, call Lab Client Services at 843-792-0707.

Note: WHITE DISK BLUE TOP 2.0 mL GREINER TUBES must be used. No other blue top tubes will be accepted.

The PRU thresholds that provide the best prediction of percent inhibition above or below thresholds of 10%, 20%, 30%, 40%, 50% and 60% are shown below. PRU results <194 are indicative of P2Y12 receptor blockage by clopidogrel.
