Notes:

Trough: Specimen should be drawn at steady-state, 24 – 48 hrs after starting treatment and immediately prior to next dose.

Collection:

Specimen: Blood 

Preferred: Lt Green w/ Gel - Li Hep if analyzed within 4 hours of collection or Plain Red tube.

Acceptable: SST or Red Top if analyzed within 4 hours of collection or Plain Red tube.

Specimen Volume: 5 mL; Minimum 1 mL

 

Pediatric Collection:

One Green, Gold or Plain Red microtainer filled to 500 uL.

Stability:

Once serum/plasma is separated from cells:

 

Ambient: 8 Hours

Refrigerated (preferred): 1 Week

Frozen: 2 Weeks

Turn Around Time (TAT):

STAT: 1 HOUR

Routine: 4 HOURS

Interpretive Data:

The Abbott ARCHITECT i2000 SR Immunoassay System (Chemiluminescence Technology) is used to perform this assay. Reference ranges adapted from Abbott method literature. Results by other manufacturers' assays for this substance may not be equivalent to results by the Abbott assay and should not be interpreted interchangeably due to methodology differences.  Results obtained with other methods cannot be used interchangeably. Reference range adapted from Lexi-Comp's Drug Information Handbook 13th Edition. This assay is FDA-approved for serum and plasma only. Testing other biological fluids has not been validated. Serum/plasma reference ranges do not apply to other sample types. Interpret with caution.                        .
