A concurrent order for a Urine Protein Electrophoresis is required.  When ordering the concurrent Urine Protein Electrophoresis, choose the appropriate test code for a random collection. 

Collection:

Specimen: Urine, 24 hour urine preferred. Random acceptable

Container: Random Urine – Plain Sterile Cup/Container. Refrigerate specimen after collection.

Volume: Random urine – 20 mL; Minimum 10 mL

Storage Instructions:

Send specimen to lab after collection or refrigerate.

Turnaround Time (TAT):

Results generally reported within two days after test is set up.
