Calculations
LDL Cholesterol = Lab Cholesterol/0.948 – Lab HDL-C/0.971 – (Lab Triglycerides/8.56 + [Lab Triglycerides x Lab NonHDL]/2140 – Lab Triglycerides^2/16100) – 9.44
LDL Cholesterol is calculated using the National Institute of Health (NIH) equation (JAMACardiol. 2020;5(5):540-548.doi:10.1001/jamacardio.2020.0013). This equation gives valid LDL results with triglyceride concentrations up to 800 mg/dL.
