Test Code LAB12967 CYP3A5 for Tacrolimus Metabolism

Method Description

The CYP3A5 gene encodes an enzyme with a strong pharmacogenetic association for metabolism of tacrolimus, an immunosuppressant commonly prescribed following solid organ transplant. Genomic DNA is extracted from the whole blood. Clinically relevant variants in CYP3A5 including functional (*1) and tier 1 non-functional alleles (*3, *6, and *7) are interrogated using whole genome SNP microarray Global Diversity Array (GDA) chip with enhanced pharmacogenetic content  (Illumina, Inc).
