Container: PPT-Plasma Preparation Tube (preferred), Serum Separator or Lavender

Storage Instructions:

Send specimen to lab immediately after collection. Centrifuge PPT and Serum Separator within 6 hours and refrigerate. If lavender tube is collected centrifuge and pouroff plasma within 6 hours and ship on a cold pack by overnight delivery. For longer storage >72 hours, freeze plasma and ship frozen on dry ice.

Results reported on day testing is performed.

Interpretive Data:

The reportable range is 10 – 1,000,000,000 IU/mL.  Assay methodology is real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR).  The PCR primers and probe target the N terminal third of the surgace gene of HBV.
