Collection:

Specimen: Blood 

Container: Lavender Top Tube (perferred), Sodium or Lithium Heparin Green, SST, and Gray are also acceptable

Specimen Volume: Minimum 2 mL (tube)

 

Pediatric Collection:

 One Lavender microtainer filled to 500 uL (Minimum 250 uL).

Stability:

Send to laboratory ASAP. Sample stable for 2 hours.

Samples must be processed within two (2) hours of collection. If testing is not performed within two (2) hours, remove plasma/serum from original container (plasma or serum is not acceptable to remain in a gel separator tube, spun or unspun, for more than 2 hours). Store plasma or serum 2 - 8 ◦C

Turnaround Time (TAT):

STAT: 2 HOURs

Routine: 3 HOURS
