Specimen: Blood

Container: Two 6 ml Sodium or Lithium Heparin Green Top Tubes on ice

Alternate container(s): LT GREEN LITHIUM HEP

Collection Volume: 10.0 mL (8.0 mL)

Special instructions: DRAW TWO 5mL TUBES! Patient should be calm and supine for 30 minutes prior to collection.

Processing Instructions:

Specimen should be centrifuged and frozen within one hour (refrigerated centrifuge is preferred but not required). 

Shipping/Handling Instructions:

On-campus collections: Tube to 99 or deliver to University Extension Hospital Room EH318
 Transfer 4 mL plasma to Standard Transport Tube. (Min: 2.1 mL)  CRITICAL FROZEN.
 
Off-campus collections: Centrifuge and aliquot within 1 hours. Specimen to be stored/transported at CRITICAL FROZEN temp. 
  
Reject due to: EDTA plasma, serum, or urine.
