Includes:

Serum Creatinine, Creatinine U and Creatinine Urine 24 Hour

Notes:

Specimen label and request must state the date/time the collection started & ended. Request must state patient's height in centimeters and weight in kilograms. Serum collected within 72 hours is required with 24 hour urine sample.

Collection:

Specimen: Blood and Timed Urine Collection

Container:

Blood – Green Lithium Heparin with gel (preferred), Serum Separator or Plain Red

Urine – Plain urine jug with no preservative.  Refrigerate urine during collection.

 

Volume:

Blood – 5 mL; Minimum 1 mL

Urine – entire timed collection

Stability:

Send specimens to Lab within 4 hours of collection completion.  

 

Urine:

Refrigerated (preferred): 1 Week

Frozen: 2 Weeks

 

Once serum/plasma is separated from cells:

 

Ambient: 8 Hours

Refrigerated (preferred): 1 Week

Frozen: 2 Weeks
