CA 19-9 is useful in monitoring of diseases status in those patients having confirmed pancreatic cancer. Serial testing for CA19-9 antigen concentrations should be used in conjunction with other clinical methods used for monitoring pancreatic cancer. The CA 19-9 assay value, regardless of level, should not be interpreted as absolute evidence of the presence or absence of malignant disease.
