Test Code LAB647 Transfusion Reaction (Platelets, FFP and Cryoprecipitate)
Includes:
A visual and clerical check of the product will be performed. Additional tests may be ordered if indicated.
Notes:
If a transfusion reaction is suspected, STOP the transfusion immediately and notify the patient’s physician. Notify Transfusion Service and complete the Transfusion Reaction Investigation Report form.
Collection:
Specimen: The partially transfused product and all attached tubing and filters must be returned to Transfusion Service as soon as possible (remove all needles) with the completed Transfusion Reaction Investigation Report form and a copy of the completed Transfusion Service Blood Tag.
Storage Instructions:
Place the remaining product in a biohazard bag before transporting to Transfusion Service.
Turnaround Time (TAT):
Visual/clerical check – 2 hours; Cultures – 72 hours.

24 hours a day / 7 days a week
