Storage Instructions:

Specimen may be held overnight at Room Temperature. Refrigerate for storage beyond 12 hours. Serum may be stored for up to 7 days at 2-8C. For longer storage, serum must be frozen at -20 or colder.

Interpretive Data:

This test detects specific IgA to deamidated gliadin peptide (DGP) and has a sensitivity for gluten sensitive enteropathy (celiac disease) of greater than 90%.   Antibodies to (DPG) decline when the patient is on a gluten free diet and increase when gluten is reintroduced in the diet. Testing for IgG antibodies to DGP is recommended in patients with selective IgA deficiency   A definitive diagnosis of celiac disease should not be made on the findings of a single laboratory test.
