Storage Instructions:
Serum should be separated from red cells when stored or shipped. Specimens that cannot be tested immediately can be refrigerated up to 48 hours. For storage beyond 48 hours, specimens should be frozen.

Intact Thyroid: < 33 ng/mL
Note: In athyrotic individuals, Tg levels should be <0.1 ng/mL
Interpretive Data:
In differentiated thyroid cancer (DTC) patients who underwent radioactive iodine remnant ablation, recombinant human TSH (rhTSH) stimulated Tg values below 2 ng/mL indicate low likelihood of residual disease. Note: Beckman Access is a second generation IMA (2G-IMA) with functional sensitivity of 0.1 ng/mL. When this test is used to follow DTC patients, Tg stimulation with rhTSH is not indicated since basal Tg <0.1 ng/mL has comparable NPV to rhTSH stimulated Tg <2 ng/mL for detection of residual disease.
