Notes:

Preferably upon rising in the AM and prior to the patient's bath, apply scotch tape (clear tape only, do not use Magic Tape) or Pinworm paddle to perianal region. If tape is used, remove tape, place tape on glass slide, place slide in clean screw top container and submit to lab.  Be aware that this organism is highly contagious.

Collection:

Specimen: Scotch Tape or Pinworm paddle applied to perianal region.

Container: Clean glass slide in screw top container or Pinworm paddle.

Storage Instructions:

Send specimen to Lab within 30 minutes or refrigerate.

Turnaround Time (TAT):

Results reported on day test is performed
