Notes:
Patient must be between 15 – 21.9 weeks of gestation at the time of specimen collection. Required demographic information needed to process sample includes: maternal date of birth, maternal weight, maternal race, number of fetuses, estimated date of delivery, presence of maternal insulin dependent diabetes mellitus prior to pregnancy, previous screening in the current pregnancy (e.g., initial or repeat serum sample), family history of NTDs

Volume: 5 ml; Minimum 2 ml
Storage Instructions:
If transportation to the lab will be delayed, centrifuge specimen to separate serum from the red cells. Once separated, serum is stable for 48 hours refrigerated. Freeze serum for longer storage.
Turnaround Time (TAT):
24-72 hours after test is set up

Twice per week, days may vary.
