Specimen Preparation / Storage Instructions:
Spin and separate serum/plasma from red cells and refrigerate.
Minimum volume of serum/plasma for analysis = 1.0 mL (no repeats)
If sending to MUSC Charleston by courier, please spin and separate prior to courier pick up.
Stability of serum/plasma: refrigerated, frozen, ambient - 14 days
Note: Unspun / unopened specimens are stable for 48 hours.
Test Availability:
Testing is performed Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 1pm. Results for specimens received in lab by 1pm Monday – Friday will be available same day. If same day results are required on specimens received after 1pm Monday – Friday, weekends or holidays, the ordering physician/clinician must page the Pathology and Lab Medicine resident on call at 792-2123.
